Paul Horowitz – Drums

A 40 year veteran, Paul was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Starting out at age 12, in his parents garage drumming on a fruit cake tin (stuffed with rags) with a chain on top to give a snare sound, accompanied by a Zenith radio blasting out rock and roll music.

He cut grass to earn enough money to buy his first drum set. It was a mismatched set of Gretsch and Slingerland drums and the store owner threw in an old sizzle cymbal. The rest, as they say, is history.

After spending four long years away at school with a parade drum strapped to his left leg (instead of sitting behind his mismatched drum set with a hi hat pedal under his left foot), Paul returned to Richmond and a normal teenage life in high school where he was able to reconnect with music and drumming.

Through Paul’s many years of drumming, he has been fortunate enough to have grown up with and been influenced by some of the best R&B and rock bands in history, and has developed his style accordingly.

Paul has played professionally ever since his last year of high school, sometimes getting home from band jobs at 2 a.m. and getting up for school the next day.

Since those days, Paul has honed his skills playing with many successful area bands.

“Once it’s in your blood, even a transfusion won’t cure it!”

When he’s not working or playing the drums, Paul enjoys riding his Harley.
